Daybeds, also called trundle beds, are a decorative bed that provides seating during the day, but can easily serve as a guest bed after sunset.
Unlike with most beds, the longest side is generally against a wall, with rails at the short sides. Almost all daybeds accept a twin size mattress, or one that is slightly smaller (38×74 is common).
You cannot use a twin size bed skirt on a daybed, because they typically drape along the wrong sides. With a daybed, you will need a bed skirt that not only covers two short sides and one long side, but one that is split at the corners to accommodate the frames connection to the spring platform. These beds often have a higher drop than normal, too, as they often have a second mattress concealed underneath to be wheeled out (on a trundle) and need the extra room.
Each daybed ensemble is made to order, so you can specify the fabric to be used in each component, including the pillow shams, the bedspread, the bed skirt, and any extra decorator pillows you might wish to add to your order.
